The Perimeter Sealing System

The draughtproofing pile is manufactured throughout from high quality polypropylene for exceptional durability and resistance to abrasion. Pile yarns are impregnated with silicone to repel water and improve sliding characteristics and are stabilised to resist ultraviolet radiation.

No harmful chemicals or ozone depleting gases are used in the manufacture of the pile and all materials, including packaging, are environmentally safe and 100% recyclable.

The seals conform to BS 6375 and BS 7386, the British standard for draughtproofing new and existing windows.

The Perimeter Sealing System for Sash Windows

For the ultimate in weather resistance, the draughtproofing incorporates a welded polypropylene centre fin which extends above the pile to provide a solid barrier against air infiltration and water penetration at reduced compression levels, with a slip additive added to the film which significantly reduces breakaway and operating forces. These products are especially suitable for sliding windows.

Pile Carrier
The pile carrier is extruded in a white unplasticised impact resistant grade of PVC, giving an excellent resistance to weathering.

Fitting Method
A special high precision grooving machine cuts a groove round the inside edge of the sash window, across the top rail of the top sash, along the meeting rail and bottom rail of the bottom sash. A pile carrier is then inserted into the groove, polypropylene pile of selected height is then inserted into the pile carrier forming a final seal in the gap.

Staff & Parting Beads
The primed staff and parting beads are both manufactured from wood.

These products are especially suitable for casement window and door applications.

The pile carrier is extruded in a white unplasticised impact resistant grade of PVC, giving an excellent resistance to weathering.

Fitting Method
The windows or doors are removed, eased and adjusted to ensure easy opening and closing. A special high precision grooving machine cuts a continuous groove around the edge of the window or door. A pile carrier is then inserted into the groove, polypropylene pile of a selected height is then inserted into the pile carrier forming a final seal in the gap.

Caring for your System & Painting

We recommend that you use an acrylic paint when painting windows because acrylic paint will touch dry within 1-2 hours, will not produce paint odours and can be removed from the brush pile with warm soapy water.

The window should be painted in the normal way but avoid getting paint onto the brush pile. It is recommended that a paint guard should be used when painting close to the pile. After painting the wooden parting bead, do not close the window before the paint has dried, as the pile will pick up paint, thus destroying the effectiveness of the draughtproofing.

The meeting rail, top rail and bottom rail all have the brush pile running along the centre and therefore we would advise that you paint carefully on either side of the pile.
